Michael Lewis serves as an Associate Director for the North American Division Evangelism Institute, beginning in January 2024. His role is to teach Evangelism and Church Planting classes, coordinate field schools for students, and train and coach pastors around the NAD in church planting, evangelism, church revitalization, and community development.

Previously, Pastor Lewis served as the Evangelism and Church Planting Director of the South-Central Conference of SDA. In that role, he conducted reaping series, trained pastors and members in developing evangelistic cycles and discipleship training and coached and directed pastors in planting churches. He also taught them how to create an impactful community footprint. While he served as the Evangelism Director, several hundred people committed to Christ and were baptized, two churches were planted, several churches were revitalized, and many pastors were trained and empowered in evangelism.

While a director, he continued to pastor the South Park SDA Church in Birmingham, Alabama. During this time, over 550 people made commitments to Christ and became members of the church, three multi-site church plants were started (one online). Their community service footprint expanded widely, an alliance was made with the Urban League to impact poverty in six distinct areas in Birmingham, and a housing development pilot was created to improve property values and decrease violence in low-income communities potentially.

Previously, he was a pastor in the Selma and Thomasville, Al district. In addition to well over a hundred people committing to Jesus and joining the church through baptism, he was able to plant a church for the first time and create a community center to fight food deserts in the Black Belt of Alabama. Pastor Lewis's doctoral work is in Business Administration, with an emphasis on creating for-profit businesses to fund non-profit ministries. He also holds master’s degrees in divinity and business administration from Andrews University and an undergraduate in marketing from Jacksonville State University.
